When the suit mixed with crystal - titanium then it formed the hardest metal on the earh. diamond coating iron man get much more hardness. 

In infinity war and end game we seen the scene in which tony star double tape on the arc reactor then he became a iron man

the simple science is the iron man suit is made of nano partical it is not a iron metal. so, the nano partical arange in a fixed order then iron man suit formed.

and the colour of suit is upper material this was formed by J. A. R. V. I. S.  programing.

This is responsible for the collection of iron man parts and the other wapons which is shown in the movies
